Since its founding in 1869, Sigma Nu Fraternity has maintained a firm and unwavering opposition to hazing in any form. We are committed to providing awareness initiatives and resources to help our chapter and all chapters combat this dangerous and destructive practice.
Definition of Hazing
Sigma Nu defines hazing as any action taken or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off fraternity premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. This includes, but is not limited to:
- ◆Paddling or any physical striking
- ◆Excessive fatigue through physical activity
- ◆Public humiliation or degrading activities
- ◆Scholastically interfering work sessions
- ◆Any situation designed to create embarrassment or ridicule
Important: The willingness of any individual to participate in any hazing activity does not excuse any hazing violation. There are no exceptions.
